The City of Elk River and its Heritage Preservation Commission are embarking on a plan to envision the future of the city’s water tower site. Situated below Elk River’s famous water tower, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this project aims to transform the one-quarter acre parcel into a well-designed and accessible place for history storytelling. This future history-centered site will enhance the surrounding environment, honor the historical significance of the water tower and the city, and explore the history of Elk River through a process that involves residents.
As the project takes off, there will be opportunities for Elk River’s community members to provide valuable input into the vision for the site:
- Provide your input on this webpage now until August 31st by using the interactive map, completing the survey, and uploading any historical images you may have! Note that the online engagement activities will be open through the end of August, and the project team will regularly reference input as the concept design options come together.
- In late September, the project team will be bringing design concepts to the community for input. Stay tuned as that date is identified!
