To preserve, strengthen, and celebrate the diverse cultures and histories along the Blue Line Extension corridor, the Metropolitan Council is supporting Cultural Placekeeping Design Groups in each corridor city to help shape the look and feel of the project.
These groups—one each in Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and Brooklyn Park—will work alongside the project design teams to guide the architectural, aesthetic, and visual elements of the project. The Design Groups will identify opportunities for incorporating cultural design elements in areas such as station platforms, sidewalks, and lighting.
Community input is essential. Throughout the process, community members will be invited to share stories, ideas, and feedback that reflect the identities and histories of corridor neighborhoods. The Cultural Placekeeping Design Groups will use this input to:
- Represent the cultural voices of their communities
- Identify meaningful locations for cultural design elements
- Co-create design features that reflect local values and traditions
Your voice can help shape a project that honors the people and places it serves. You can contribute to the activities below!
